CHEKHOVIA
2024
“ Why do you always go around in black.. ..If only we knew. If only we knew! …I’m mourning my life… Moscow Moscow Moscow... Father’s been dead a year now!… Oh, my days of innocence, my wonderful days of innocence…. I am a seagull…. My life has passed me by as if I’d never lived….You nincompoop….”
This production showcases some of Anton Chekhov’s most iconic scenes, with a set designed to evoke the layered, atmospheric interiors characteristic of Chekhov’s world. The staging creates a sense of depth and memory, where spaces overlap like the emotions and relationships within them. A vast backdrop acting as Russia’s birch forests serves as both a symbolic and practical element, offering a strong visual contrast and allowing for dynamic lighting shifts that define the mood and tone of each scene.
