LUNGS
2025 _ Theatre de Fontainebleau
Lungs by Duncan Macmillan is an intimate, fast-paced two-hander that follows a couple as they navigate love, commitment, and the ethical dilemmas of bringing a child into a world facing climate crisis. The set design serves as a visual metaphor for the play’s exploration of climate change, overconsumption, and the profound weight of human choices. Constructed entirely from recycled plastic, the stage becomes an unsettling and evocative landscape, embodying the artificiality and environmental harm at the heart of the play’s themes. Its pervasive presence evokes a sense of suffocation and imbalance, reflecting the characters’ anxieties about their role in a world teetering on the edge of ecological collapse.
